One mom, waiting for her oldest to be out of school, said her youngest had a contagious disease. He wasn’t so sick that he couldn’t get out of bed, he didn’t look too ill, but he had the symptoms. She didn’t think he needed to stay home the next day, because “They don’t let you keep your kid at home, when they have this disease.” That’s when my blood started boiling. (more…)

“You’re gonna love this one!” my husband told me in the car, while he put on one of the songs from his new playlist. The title appeared: “Disturbed – The Sound of Silence”. Now I actually do love “The Sound of Silence” by Simon and Garfunkel. But looking at the dashboard of the car, I had my doubts about this version. My husband’s new playlist included songs that I tolerated, maybe even liked when I was a teenager (Rammstein, Nightwish, Korn… hell, I sometimes even listened to Children of Bodom… strange times.) but they give me the chills now. A daily creative activity is not something that comes easily to a lot of us. Especially when we have so many obligations and care taking duties. But that doesn’t mean that it’s impossible, or that it’s just for “those artist people”. Still it can be an amazingly satisfying activity to add to your life. To create a habit of creating, you sure need to be prepared to do some work and put in some effort. It can be hard in the beginning, but when you find your way to do it, it becomes effortless.
